Residency and Fellowship Programs within the Vanderbilt
Section of Surgical Sciences
The Vanderbilt Section of Surgical Sciences welcomes your
application. Due to the high volume of telephone inquiries
about the application process and deadline, we are providing
the following information to answer the most frequently
asked questions about application.

General Surgery
Residency
The Department of Surgery receives all applications via the
Electronic Residency Application Service (ERAS). All
applicants should access ERAS either from their school of
graduation or from ECFMG.
The ERAS Application Information Sheet is available at
http://www.aamc.org/eras/ais/start.htm. The deadline for Vanderbilt to receive your completed General Surgical Residency application through ERAS is November 1. The Dean's letter and transcript should be received shortly thereafter. The Resident Selection Committee will review completed files in November. Each residency year begins July 1 and ends June 30.
Fellowships
Fellowship training within the Divisions of the
Department of Surgery is available in Laparoscopic Surgery,
Trauma/Surgical Critical Care, and Vascular Surgery. As a
part of their application processes, these programs require
that you complete and return the VUMC Application for
Training (Residency/Clinical Fellowship), which may be
downloaded from the Vanderbilt
Graduate Medical Education web site or by clicking

Division of
Vascular Surgery Thomas C. Naslund, M.D., is Associate Professor of Surgery and Chief of the Vascular Surgery Residency Program.
The Division of Vascular Surgery receives all applications via the Electronic Residency Application Service (ERAS). All applicants should access ERAS either from their school of graduation or from ECFMG.
